Wisdom from a nine year old

I’m a typical parent in the sense that just about everything about my kids amazes me- but recently, I found a short letter written by my nine year old daughter to a friend of hers who was hit by a car and remains in serious condition. I was floored by how deep it is. [names omitted for privacy]

Hope you feel better and get better soon! I love you very much and I am really concerned about you but I know that God has a special plan for you and if it be his will he will heal you and proceed in his plan. sincerely your friend

I think perhaps the child’s parents may not appreciate a letter like this- but it’s quite possibly one of the most honest and beautiful ‘get well’ notes that I’ve ever read.

It’s a trajedy how pervasive this “name it claim it”, “God’s will is that we never get sick, but live happy, healthy, and weathly lives” mentality is. It’s a lie.

Have you read the Bible? From the beginning to the end, the lives of God fearing people are filled with pain, trajedy, sickness, and death. The mark of a Christian is that we trust God through all of it. And we have joy despite our circumstances.

Bible Data Extraction

Now that I’ve  imported the full KJV and ASV bibles into a MySQL database, I am excited to start running all sorts of queries against them.

First observation:

There are 31,102 verses in both the KJV and ASV versions of the Bible.

That isnt terribly exciting, so hopefully, I’ll come up with more interesting things to query. If you’re into numbers though, here are some interesting King James Bible Statistics.
